Short Course PR Racing SC-201 28T Aluminum Sprocket

Optional 28T intermediate pinion, made of aluminum, for the transmission of the PR-Racing SC201 chassis.

This optional pinion is made of aluminum, while the original one included in the SC201 chassis kit is made of hardened plastic.

Please note that when you mount the chassis with the transmission in the MM (medium motor or center motor) position, the transmission case uses two gears like this one. However, if you mount the RM (rear motor) transmission inside the transmission case, you will only use one of these gears.

When should we mount this optional aluminum sprocket?

Obviously, we can install it from the beginning, that is, acquire it when we buy the chassis and install it from the start, although we can also install it in case we have some breakage or problem in our transmission box, and decide to replace the original pinion with this more reinforced one.

The usual practice is to assemble the car with all original parts; the PR Racing SC-201 already comes with many standard options, and it is also a very robust chassis.

In case of any unexplained breakage inside the transmission box, once we have to change this particular sprocket, and with the aim of reinforcing the transmission of our SC as much as possible, we can install this optional sprocket.

It will also depend on how you use the chassis. Those of you who use it for competition are more likely to want to maximize the strength of your machine compared to those who don't push the mechanics as hard because they don't use the SC201 chassis for regular racing.

Parts that act as fuses?

It's important to keep in mind that many RC car parts act like fuses. When we break a part and replace it with a more reinforced one, we should anticipate that next time, if we experience a similar bump or impact, or if we're driving with excessive power, we might break a different part, even if it's related to the one we replaced. Because we replaced the part with a more durable one, it will withstand more stress than the original plastic part, but the surrounding parts will then be subjected to much greater stress. In this case, the original 28T plastic crown gear is a typical example of a part that acts like a fuse.
