Original replacement steering linkage, made of aluminum, valid for the PR-Racing SC-201 model.

This steering rod is identical to the one included in the SC-201 chassis mounting kit.

This steering rod receives the force from the servo (not included in the mounting kit) and transmits it to the two steering linkages, which in turn transfer it to the steering knuckles.

In addition to steering distribution, this bar allows us to make adjustments to the steering system geometries that will help make the chassis more competitive.

What adjustments does the steering linkage allow on the SC201 chassis?

On each of the two sides, this steering bar has two holes to which we will attach the steering linkages.

Depending on the position of the steering linkage holes—further forward or further back—we will achieve different chassis reactions. This is known as the Ackerman effect.

This effect is defined as the difference in angle between the inner and outer front wheels when the vehicle is turned. If we observe both wheels as the steering wheel is turned, we will see that the inner wheel turns at a smaller angle than the outer wheel. This difference in angle can be modified by changing the anchor position of the tie rods on the steering linkage.

Ackerman zero would mean that the inside wheel would have exactly the same direction as the track. Thus, our chassis would have neutral behavior.

However, if we attach the tie rods in the rearmost position of the distribution bar (closer angle) we will obtain a much more progressive steering, with much smoother chassis reactions ideal for circuits with fast corners.

If, instead, we adjust the steering tie rods to the most forward position of the steering column (widest angle), the chassis will behave more nervously and react more quickly to changes in direction. Corner exits will be smoother, and it will perform better on tracks with very tight turns.
